There’s probably no better time to start a DIY project than on Easter Sunday. You’ve already had a few days off and still have Easter Monday ahead of you, so there’s plenty of time to get a little creative. If you can then add your own fabricated products to your spring beauty routine – all the better!
Ready for spring
The sun shows it’s face every day and gets noticeably stronger. Besides the obligatory sun protection, it is now also important not to neglect your skin care routine. Shea butter is perfectly suited as an evening regenerative care or as a morning pampering programme. It supplies the skin with valuable vitamins and at the same time protects it from free radicals. Together with coconut oil it can be whipped into a wonderfully fluffy body butter, which can be refined with essential oils according to taste. For spring I have chosen peppermint, which is cooling and helps to concentrate.
Curious? Let’s go!
You only need 3 ingredients: shea butter, coconut oil and peppermint oil. Depending on the desired final quantity, the shea butter and the coconut oil are weighed, whereby the mixing ratio is 1:1. I used about 70g shea butter and 70g coconut oil for a smaller container.
Then it’s time to melt. Shea butter and coconut oil are carefully melted together in a water bath. Find out here about the correct way to melt. Afterwards the essential peppermint oil can be added. Here too, the dosage varies according to the amount of the other ingredients and is also a matter of taste. Let the melted and mixed ingredients cool down, if necessary in the refrigerator.
As soon as the mixture is firm but still easy to manipulate, it can be further processed. Beat with a hand mixer until the consistency resembles a delicious dessert.
And that’s it!
Now all you have to do is pour everything into a pretty little container, decorate it and enjoy.
