Your skin feels tight, itchy, and unpleasantly rough. Does this sound familiar? These are all signs of dry skin. External influences often play a role. Luckily, there are helpful tips that naturally help with dry facial skin, dry hands, and dry body areas.
Dry skin occurs when the sebaceous glands produce too little oil and/or the skin's moisture regulation is imbalanced. This can have a variety of causes. But first, I'll show you what you can do about dry skin.
The 5 tips against dry skin
- Drink plenty of water every day!
- Provide the skin with moisture and oil (both are important!)
- Skin care adapted to the seasons and age
- Gentle care with products with few ingredients
- Avoid washing too often, water removes moisture from the skin

How suitable are the water-free SHEA YEAH cosmetic products for the care of dry skin?
For dry skin, gentle skincare is essential. And that's precisely why water-free and vegan natural cosmetics are so ideal. Because they contain no water, preservatives and emulsifiers can be omitted. In other words, the fewer ingredients a product has, the gentler it is for the skin. Plant oils and butters are particularly beneficial for the skin, as their fatty structure resembles the structures in the skin barrier.
Don't forget: Apply water-free natural cosmetics to damp skin whenever possible! Why? Learn how here!
Where does dry skin come from?
Dry skin is caused by insufficient oil production in the sebaceous glands and an imbalance in moisture regulation. The most common causes are:
- Dehydration due to not drinking enough (hello me!)
- External influences such as cold, wind, water, sun, heat, air conditioning, heating
- Unhealthy lifestyle (consumption of alcohol and cigarettes, stress, lack of sleep…)
- Too aggressive shower gels, soaps, perfumes, etc.
- The natural aging process of the skin
Dry skin can also be caused by a medical condition such as atopic dermatitis or contact dermatitis. Consultation with a doctor is recommended in these cases, but a healthy lifestyle and careful, gentle skin care can also help.
My personal home remedies for dry skin
- Mix oatmeal with water and/or mash a ripe avocado and apply as a mask
- Puree the inside of an aloe vera leaf and massage it in (alternatively aloe vera gel)
- Rub in freshly squeezed carrot juice or add it to the bath water along with 2-4 tablespoons of shea butter
Well then, have fun trying out this home remedy, apply shea butter and don't forget: drink, drink, drink!
Best regards
