Shea butter is perfect for evening regenerative care or as a morning pampering treatment. It supplies the skin with valuable vitamins while protecting it from free radicals. Blended with coconut oil, it makes a wonderfully fluffy body butter, which can be enhanced with essential oils to taste.
DIY Recipe: Shea-Coconut-Mint Body Butter
This lovely recipe requires only three ingredients: shea butter, coconut oil, and peppermint essential oil. Depending on the desired final quantity, the shea butter and coconut oil are weighed in a 1:1 ratio. This recipe is perfect for those of you who want to subtly enhance the nutty, smoky scent of traditionally produced shea butter.
Ingredients
- 70g Shea butter
- 70g coconut oil
- 3g essential peppermint oil (peppermint is also super fine, slightly sweeter)
The scent and dosage vary depending on taste.
The dosage of essential oils for body products is 2-3%. Never use essential oils undiluted. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a healthcare professional.

preparation
There are two ways to make whipped shea butter. I'll leave it up to you to decide which one you prefer :-)
Variant 1: The Fast One
This recipe is relatively quick to make. However, the mixture is rarely completely homogenous, and small pieces of shea butter may form occasionally. However, it is beautifully airy and soft.
- Put shea butter and coconut oil in a large bowl and place it in a warm place so that the ingredients become slightly soft (not liquid!). In winter, for example, near a heater
- Press everything softly with a fork
- Mix the mixture with an electric hand blender until it reaches a light, airy, homogeneous consistency
- Add the essential oil and beat everything again with the hand blender until the consistency resembles a delicious dessert
Variant 2: The precise
This recipe is a bit more complicated to make. However, the mixture turns out nice and homogenous. It's also airy, though a bit less soft than version 1.
- Shea butter and coconut oil in a Place in a warm water bath and melt carefully.
- Once the mixture has a creamy consistency, the essential peppermint oil can be added
- Allow the melted and mixed ingredients to cool, if necessary in the refrigerator
- Once the mixture is firm but still easy to handle, it's ready to be processed. Beat it with an electric hand mixer until it reaches a mousse-like consistency.
Now all that's left to do is pour the whole thing into a pretty little jar, decorate it, and enjoyably apply it to damp skin.
